Mary Magdalene: Regeneratrix

A 4-Part Series celebrating the Regenerative Power of the divine feminine

I

I

This time of year is ripe with images of regeneration. After a long journey through the decay, death, and deep sleep of winter, Nature is rebirthing herself anew. The death that proceeds rebirth is not only physical, but is also psychological, emotional, and spiritual. It is also most evidently ecological--meaning that the movement from death to rebirth is a natural process of all life to which we human beings also belong.

It is the dynamic dance from death to rebirth that I believe is a core piece to Mary Magdalene and her story. In the traditional Christian narrative, she is a witness to death and rebirth. Yet, when we look more closely, she can more broadly be imagined as a Regeneratrix. In other words, the historical and mytho-archetypal Mary Magdalene becomes a spiritual midwife who teaches us the true power and gifts that come from being present to death and regeneration.

Episode 4 - She is Risen! On Mary Magdalene, feminine power, and easter

Why do we dye eggs at Easter and where does this tradition come from? Why do we dye #Eastereggs red? As legend has it, the reasons for this tradition go all the way back to Mary Magdalene's trip to Rome after the resurrection of Jesus.

When I first heard this story, I felt that it revealed hidden #goddesssymbolism on the nature of death and regeneration. So on Easter Eve 2018, I traveled to Rome where I recreated this story using the symbols of the goddess and placing Mary Magdalene at its center. In this video, I explain why I used 3 goddess symbols; why Mary Magdalene is central, not marginal to this story; and end with the a filmed version of the original performance piece filmed in Rome.

Join me on this goddess adventure to the heart of the meaning of Mary Magdalene as powerful Regeneratrix!

Episode 1 - Mary Magdalene: Regeneratrix in conversation with Dr. April Heaslip

In this first episode, April Heaslip explains how Mary Magdalene invites all of us to stand witness to our individual and collective grief and anger even in the face of uncertainly, loss, and change. Magdalene models this with fierce love and commitment. With that #witness to grief and to the acknowledgement of what is, comes the possibility of something new--it is the sweetness of regeneration.

Episode 2 - Mary Magdalene #ShePersisted in conversation with Dr. Cindy Caldwell

#MaryMagdalene is a dynamic figure who has captivated the Western imagination for millennia. With the discovery of the #GnosticGospels, Mary Magdalene has re-emerged as a much more complex and central figure in the early Christian movement. Whether we see her as spiritual leader, companion to Jesus, or the divine feminine archetype in Christianity, Magdalene's regeneration in the culture today is proof that we women can define ourselves for ourselves. Dr. Cindy reminds us that despite millennia of slander against Mary Magdalene, #shepersisted.

Episode 3 - Mary Magdalene: Sacred Sexuality Regeneratrix in conversation with Dr. Megan Rose

In the third episode of this series, "Mary Magdalene: Sacred Sexuality Regeneratrix", I talk with psychologist, scholar, priestess, and healer:

🌹Dr. Megan Rose 🌹

For Dr. Megan Rose, Mary Magdalene is arising in the culture today not only as a cultic patroness, but also as an esoteric lineage holder. Her re-emergence into the culture today is to initiate all Magdalenians into the feminine #wombmysteries of the "divine within". Join us for our conversation on #MaryMagdalene as a #sacredsexuality regeneratrix.
